About Rick DiMuzio


Rick DiMuzio Jazz Saxophonist, Composer, EducatorRick DiMuzio, jazz saxophonist, composer, and Berklee professor, has performed in many of New England’s jazz venues, including the Boston Globe Jazz Festival, Portsmouth Jazz Festival, Boston AHTS Festival, Falmouth Jazz Festival, the Regattabar, Scullers, Ryles, and many others. He has also played at the historic Wally’s Café, where he did a three-year stint in the weekend house band. He performs regularly with the Greg Hopkins Big Band and Quintet, the Leo Blanco group, the Kevin Harris Project, the Steve Langone Group, the Sofferman Perspective, and the Bruno Raberg Nonet, and has made radio appearances on both WERS and WGBH. Rick has also traveled throughout the United States, Italy, Mexico, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic, and has performed with such artists as Steve Grossman, David Liebman, Bill Perkins, Bill Pierce, Kenny Wheeler, Tim Hagans, Clay Jenkins, Conrad Herwig, Danilo Perez, James Williams, Louie Bellson, Terri Lyne Carrington, Roger Humphries, Bob Moses, and Jamey Haddad.

In addition to his performing career, Rick serves as Professor at Berklee College of Music and teaches privately. He is a former faculty member of the New England Conservatory Extension Division, and the former Director of Jazz Studies at Truman State University, located in Kirksville, Missouri.  He has been a clinician at numerous colleges and universities throughout the US.
 

Rick earned his doctorate in jazz composition from New England Conservatory, an M.A. in jazz performance from the Eastman School of Music, and a B.S. in music education from Indiana University of PA.  Past teachers include Bob Brookmeyer, Jerry Bergonzi, George Garzone, Danilo Perez, Bob Moses, Ramon Ricker, Bill Dobbins, and Rayburn Wright.
